On the basis of applied research, the scientific monitoring of the pilot project “Vielfalt vor Ort begegnen” contributes scientific findings on diversity-sensitive education to develop existing pedagogic practices of educators and support the organizational development processes in daycare centers for children in the province of Thuringia. It will be realized from 2021 to 2023 at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt led by Michaela Rißmann, Barbara Lochner and Christine Rehklau and it is funded by the Thuringian Ministry for education, youth and sports. The aim is to develop a theoretically based and empirically validated training for educators on diversity–reflexivity and the pedagogical handling of heterogeneity in early childhood education and care. The process includes three qualitative and quantitative surveys and their triangulated analysis.
